The strawberries didn't make it into a second batch. And they were missed! However I love the look of the lemon, apple garnish.

This summer has been all about gin and tonics and white wine for me.

Right now I am in love with a super simple, sweet sangria mix. I love that I can mix it up one night and sip from it all week.

The Recipe: Strawberry, Lemon Sangria

2 lemons, sliced

1 C. strawberries, sliced

1 gala apple, sliced

1 Tbs. sugar

2 C. club soda

1 bottle pinot grigio or riesling

Slice the lemons, strawberries and apple. Put in the bottom a pitcher.  Add the sugar, club soda and wine. Stir thoroughly. Let sit in the fridge for at least one hour. Serve, using the fruit for garnish.

This sangria is just the right amount of sweet, crisp and refreshing. It tastes like summer should. It goes great with salads, pastas and even sherbet. What’s your favorite summer time drink?

P.S. If you love beer, may I suggest Deschutes Summer Ale this season? It’s light, crisp and tastes just like a nice summer beer should. SL,UT-ters you can find it at the State Liquor Store, Beerhive, Lucky 13 and probably a few other places, too.
